Privacy policy
Updated 27 October 2026
OpenTuju is a Malaysian navigation app operated by Aigility Digital. This policy covers the OpenTuju Android and iOS apps and web app. Contact hello@aigility.digital with privacy questions or requests.
Location and background navigation
With your permission, OpenTuju accesses your precise or approximate location to show your position, find nearby places, plan routes and provide turn-by-turn navigation. Your device controls whether precise or approximate location is available.
During navigation that you start, OpenTuju accesses location in the background, including when another app is visible or the screen is locked. This keeps your position, turns, route deviations and guidance up to date. Background navigation location updates stop when you end navigation or reach your destination. OpenTuju does not use background location for advertising.
You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. You can still choose places and plan routes manually; live navigation requires location access. Force-closing the app may stop navigation.
Searches and online services
Route calculation and road matching run on your device using downloaded road data. Android online place searches send the search text and, when available, nearby coordinates to our search service over HTTPS. The service rounds coordinates to two decimal places for a bounded search-result cache, with a five-minute freshness window. That window is not a deletion deadline: older entries may remain until replaced or the service restarts. On iOS, online place search uses Apple Maps services.
Online map providers receive requests for the map areas you view. Map, search, app-update and downloadable-content services receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address, when your device contacts them. Their infrastructure may process requests outside Malaysia. Using offline data reduces network requests but does not prevent other enabled online services from connecting.
Data on your device
Saved places, recent places, Home and Work shortcuts, preferences and downloaded navigation data are stored on your device. OpenTuju does not require an account or provide account-based synchronization of these items. Device backup services may retain app data according to your device settings.
If you choose Share ETA, your device shares the destination and estimated arrival information through the app or recipient you select. Sharing is initiated by you.
Diagnostics and advertising
The web app sends limited location-service diagnostics, such as permission or timeout status, browser family, elapsed time and app release, to help diagnose navigation problems. These diagnostic events do not contain coordinates or search text. This web diagnostic reporting is not enabled in the native Android and iOS apps.
OpenTuju does not display ads or sell personal data. Service providers process information needed to deliver search, maps, downloads, updates and hosting. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Retention and your choices
Saved places and preferences remain on your device until changed or removed. To remove the Android app's local data, use Clear storage in Android settings; removing the app also removes its local app storage. Downloaded content and caches may be replaced during updates. Device or cloud backups are controlled separately by your platform provider.
Search caching is used for request processing rather than maintaining an account or travel-history profile. We do not promise a fixed deletion period for cached search results or infrastructure records. Contact hello@aigility.digital to request access, correction or deletion of information you believe we hold. We may need enough information to locate a relevant record and verify a request; we cannot identify device-only records remotely.
Children and policy changes
OpenTuju is intended for people aged 16 and older and is not directed to children under 16. We may update this policy as the app or its services change. The date above identifies the current version.
